House of Music, Hungary – digital experiences and internal systems

Web portal, online booking, an information kiosk and a staff intranet – for visitors and staff alike.

The project

Exhibitions, concerts, music education: three pillars, one well-run digital backbone.

One institution, many audiences

The House of Music, Hungary (Magyar Zene Háza), in Budapest's City Park, is a concert venue, an exhibition space and a music education centre in one. A programme this varied calls for a striking digital presence, flexible content management and well-organised processes behind the scenes.

WEBAPIX has been the House's partner from the start: the website was ready for the opening, and we have kept developing it ever since, together with the custom solutions around it – from the booking system to the intranet.

zenehaza.hu: more than an event listing

In the custom CMS behind zenehaza.hu, editors manage events, series, performers and venues in one place. Performance data flows in automatically from the ticketing system, and visitors find what they are looking for through the calendar, filters and search – in Hungarian and English.

  1. The zenehaza.hu homepage on desktop and mobile

    Homepage

Featured events in a rotating hero, the three main areas (exhibitions, concerts, music education) and what's on now – all in one view.

  2. The zenehaza.hu event calendar on desktop and mobile

    Event calendar

Weekly, monthly and list views, search across events, and ticket availability visible at a glance for every event.

  3. A concert event page on zenehaza.hu with ticket purchase

    Event page

Date, venue, performers and description in one place, with direct ticket and season pass purchase.

  4. The zenehaza.hu photo gallery on desktop and mobile

    Gallery

Photo galleries of the House and its events, managed as their own content type in the CMS.

  5. Three mobile views of zenehaza.hu: homepage, booking and event page

    On mobile

Every page is designed for phones too: the homepage, the booking system and the event pages work just as well on a small screen.

Booking in four steps

Music education sessions can be booked online, while the system checks and confirms everything in the background.

  1. Age group and session

Visitors filter the programme by age group and session type – or jump straight to the next free slot in one click.

  2. Free slots, week by week

The calendar only offers slots that can actually be booked; full ones can't be selected.

  3. Booking form

A short form, easy to fill in on a phone too.

  4. Checks and confirmation

The system checks availability and clashes, sends a confirmation email and provides a calendar entry.

Staff intranet: the institution's internal digital space

A separate internal system that supports day-to-day operations and communication between colleagues.

  • internal and HR news, staff directory
  • messages, events, community activities
  • polls, quizzes and push notifications

Important information no longer gets lost in email threads – and everyone hears the same news.

Behind the scenes: custom builds for the House

Visitors see the website, but our work goes much further. Over the years we have also built custom solutions that make everyday work easier – inside the building, in ticketing and in content management.

The information kiosk

A touchscreen kiosk in the foyer. It runs on the same content as the website, so there is nothing extra to maintain.

  • Built for touch: its own interface with large buttons and no header or footer, in Hungarian and English.
  • Tickets via QR code: every event shows a QR code, so visitors buy tickets on their own phone.
  • Kiosk-only notices: editors can publish announcements that appear only on the kiosk.
  • Always ready: after 10 minutes of inactivity it returns to the start screen, so the next visitor always starts fresh.

Working behind the scenes

Automation and integrations that take work off the team – including a protected video library unlocked by coupon codes.

Ticketing sync

Events, performances, venues and cancellations arrive automatically from the ticketing system, season by season.

Events API for partners

External partners receive event data through a protected API, and the ticketing system can push updates itself.

Automatic “Sold out” label

When an event sells out, the system adds the label to its image automatically, on desktop and mobile.

One-click AI translation

Editors can have content translated into English with one click and get an email when it's ready.
